My Lego Shakespeare Books Have Arrived!
I know this is a horrific thought for some but Shakespeare has been published into some Lego themed books. But I think its cool!
My son who is a Lego Movie Maker loves to see a story in Lego. He looks at the sets and the way the concepts are portrayed.
So when someone told me about the Brick Shakespeare books I had to buy them even if it seemed like literary vandalism.
The books arrived today. They are two hard copy large books with glossy pages that come in a hard cardboard box. It also has a big wall poster of Taming of the Shrew or Romeo and Juliet (I stuck that in my daughter’s room – she is a Shakespeare snob so we’ll see how that goes when she finds it).
One book covers 4 tragedies: Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet and Julius Caesar. (344 pages)
The other book covers the comedies: Midsummer Nights Dream, The Tempest, Much Ado About Nothing and The Taming of the Shrew. (340 pages)
The books start with an introduction to the play and all of the characters of the play. Then there is a full page of the cast with their Lego mini figure picture.
The plays is set out in scenes and acts with a condensed version of the text but still using the Elizabethan text. Three or four pictures to each page with text beside the picture.
These books are fun and they give your child the concepts of the play. A great purchase and very good value.
