Excellent also for older children. Gladys is a Christian, so that colours her choice. A book worth owning - I have found some wonderful new authors through this book.

Love You Forever - Robert Munsch
This is not a homeschooling book. It is a picture book about the love a mother has for her child. Told in a way any child can understand, this book will bring tears to your eyes and the realisation to a child that no matter what they are like, their mother never stops loving them. It is a perfect gift for a child or for one's own mother. A bestseller that is bound to become a classic.

This practical book is for women wishing to leave the workplace for whatever reason. For all of those who say, "We couldn't afford to homeschool - but we'd like to," - here is the book for you!

The Spiritual Power of a Mother - Michael Farris
Farris gives heartfelt encouragement to homeschooling mothers to keep them doing their valuable work raising up a generation devoted to the Lord's purposes. Marriage Relationship

Love & Respect - Dr. Emerson Eggerichs  (includes DVD)
A revolutionary message based around the practicalities of Ephesians 5:33. When men learn to love their wives so their wives feel loved, and women learn to respect their husbands so they feel respected, both will get off the crazy cycle of conflict and be happy, feel close to each other, feel valued and experience marriage as God intended. Not a preachy book but an eye-opening and freeing book. HB with DVD by the author.

Keeping Our Children's Hearts - Steven & Teri Maxwell
The Maxwells are doing a great job with their children—there is no doubt about that—they have the goods to show for their methods! Here they carefully outline the principles behind how they sheltered their family, and brought them up in the fear of the Lord, obedient to their parents, responsible young adults.

Heartfelt Discipline - Clay Clarkson
The gentle art of training and guiding your child. Experienced father of four home educated children, Clay gives a Biblical and practical relational approach. No rehashing of other's ideas here, Clay challenges parents to reject following a 1-2-3 formula of child training in favour of Spirit-led living where parents pass on their personal life of faith to their children and seek to do as Jesus would do.

Hints on Child Training - Clay Trumball
A child training classic written by the grandfather of Elisabeth Elliot in the late I 800's. What strikes one upon reading this book is the unhurried spirit he encourages parents to have in raising their children and his concern for their individual lives. Nowhere is there evidence of wanting a 'quick fix' to solve all their discipline problems. Child Training to Trumball is a mix of Christlike living and relationship with your child. Incredibly challenging book for parents of today.

How to Really Love Your Child – D. Ross Campbell, M.D.
This series of books encourages parents to act in a Christlike manner as they raise their children. Looking at Scripture the author shows what actions make a child feel loved and accepted, how to not provoke them to anger, and how to help them and yourself deal with anger so it does not escalate and cause barriers between you. The theory is –children who feel loved and accepted are much easier to train and choose to do right more often. That's how it is with adults – the authors apply this fact to children. The most helpful books we have read on the topic of child training. How to Really Love Your Teen and How to Really Love Your Angry Child  teach similar principles, concentrating on the topics at hand. These are practical and the principles work, for both you and your children!
